Top 10 coaches or managers currently not coaching but should be.

10. Bobby Valentine.  Ok I know his last gig in Boston was a disaster, but he was handed the Fried Chicken and Beer mess from Terry Francona, and it worked out well for the Sox because they ended up blowing up the team getting rid of the bad apples (Adrian Gonzalez Josh Beckett and Carl Crawford) and they won a World Series.  Would not mind seeing Bobby V back with the Mets.

9.  Tony Dungy.  I don't know if Dungy is looking to work or he is happy with his gig on NBC, but who wouldn't want a Super Bowl Winning coach who also won in Tampa.  His team pretty much won the Super Bowl for Gruden (more on Gruden in a little bit)

8.  Bill Cowher.  At this point, I don't know if Cowher wants to coach, I always felt he was waiting for the Giants job, but Coughlin just won't go away.  Has the game passed him by?  Hard to believe this will be his 8th season away from the Steelers.

7.  Tony Larussa.  Even though he slows the game to crawl with all his pitching moves, he is a great manager.  Like Dungy, not sure if he would want to manage again but you never know.

6.  John Tortarella.  Ok he is rough with the Media, but he got a raw deal in Vancouver and the Rangers Defensive philosophy under Tort, is a big reason why Alain Vigneault is in the Stanley Cup finals.  Martin St Louis is a big reason too however and if the coaching change had not been made would the results be different? We will never know.

5.  Jim Fassel.  How does a coach who led a team to the Super Bowl, never get a second job? Who did he piss off?  How many jobs did Wade Phillips get and he never came close to the Super Bowl.  (ok the 2007 Cowboys, Patrick Crayton.. I am going to throw up now)  Seriously! what did Fassel do wrong?  He got the Super Bowl with Kerry Collins!  Kerry bleeping Collins!

4.  Patrick Ewing.  Ok so he is currently an assistant coach with the Magic, but he should have a shot at a head coaching job.  Jason Kidd and Derek Fisher step right out of their jerseys into the suit and tie as a head coach and nobody gives Ewing a shot who paid his dues?  Not to mention Steve kerr.  Is there really that big a bias against Centers being coaches? (no pun intended)  He deserves a chance

3 Brian Billick.  If Jim Fassel deserves a 2nd chance for getting to the Super Bowl with Kerry Collins then what about the guy who beat him with Trent Dilfer? I understand the Ravens had one of the greatest defenses ever, but still Billick was also the Offensive Coordinator with one of the greatest offenses in NFL history the 98 Vikings.  He is a smart man who deserves another start.

2. Jon Gruden.  He won a Super Bowl, and it appears he is happy with ESPN Monday Night Gig. (so are we anytime we can here "Spider Y Banana")  I know if he wants to he can be a head coach somewhere  He is a tireless worker, and he will succeed no matter where he goes, but you can't blame him, the MNF gig doesn't get second guessed every play.

1. Mark Jackson.  He led a franchise in the Warriors who haven't been relevant and led them to the playoffs, the players loved him.  He is rough around the edges, but the Kincks hiring Fisher instead of Jackson is curious. The guy is a good coach and just like Gruden he will get another job and be successful, an we love him with Breen and Van Gundy on ABC/ESPN, but he shouldn't have been fired in the 1st place.
